Through email and telephone coaching, I help teenagers learn what is means to take responsibility, have a strong work
ethic, be respected. I teach skills to get a job done by breaking it into smaller tasks (project management), keeping
commitments (calendar management), keeping your word (integrity) and being someone others can count on (dependability).
I modify the program to meet the needs of the student and help chart the course of a successful career. We identify
accomplishments, create a resume and practice self promotion (interviewing). We prepare the student for college
and beyond. Enjoying your life's work is my goal.
How Career Coaching for Students Began
Over the years, I have been
asked to coach the children of some of my clients. Usually, it has been for a resume and on some occasions
interview prep and always with great results!! Two years ago, a client asked me to work with her daughter
who was at that time a junior in high school. The student was at a rebellious stage and had withdrawn from
family activity. She was also on a swim team and was having great anxiety prior to competing which had escalated to the point
where she wasn’t enjoying her swimming. Her parents were at a loss having tried everything they knew
to do, were frustrated and didn’t want to give up. Because of the successful coaching experience
of my client, they thought that coaching their daughter would be effective.
A Success Story
I began coaching this student
when she was a junior in high school.
During the 15 months that I coached her she made remarkable progress.
Here are some of our accomplishments she made through Teen Career Coaching:
She chose a career path and took steps to gain experience by making appropriate choices of volunteer and
part time work.
We discussed family values, living with integrity, what is means to be an adult, how to design
your life to be satisfying.
She gained self esteem, energy, a positive can-do attitude, her confidence
grew, she became a powerhouse, knocked the socks off the admissions department in her college interviews, wrote incredible
essays for college and ended up going to her first choice school!
She is now a full time college sophomore with
2 parttime jobs, very articulate, driven and focused on succeeded in all aspects of her life.
She is also on very good terms with
her family and helpful to her siblings with their school projects.
